The father or significant other may stay with the mother throughout her stay. There may be no more than three (3) visitors in the room at any one time, including the labor coach. Children under the age of 14 years, excluding siblings, are not permitted to visit. The main support person is not considered a visitor and should be encouraged to stay with the mother as much as possible. An adult must accompany children at all times. The father and/or significant other, siblings of the infant, and other family and friends may visit from 9am to 9pm. Visitors are to utilize the Emergency Department Waiting Room and outside the hospital. A family member or visitor may be asked to leave if he/she becomes unruly or disruptive to the patient or others in the department. A family member or visitor may be asked to leave the treatment area if the patient’s condition deteriorates. The duration of the visit is at the discretion of the ED nurse and/or physician. Visitors are limited to one (1) person at the bedside, with special consideration given based on individual patient needs. Visitors will be instructed to use the telephones in the Visitors Waiting Room and in the front of the ICU/CCU doors prior to entering the unit. In the ICU/CCU, visiting is permitted 24 hours a day. When pediatric patients are being visited, a parent or designated adult must be present or the parent must have identified the visitor and approved the visit. A guest food tray will be provided for the adult who spends the night and assists with care. Sleeping accommodations are provided for one parent/guardian. One parent or designated adult will be encouraged to stay with the child at all times to ensure their safety. Parents and grandparents may visit 24 hours a day. Any child with obvious infection or known exposure to contagious disease will be excluded from visiting. General visiting hours are from 9am to 9pm.Ĭhildren under 14 years of age may be allowed to visit with special permission from the Clinical Manager, Nursing House Supervisor or primary care nurse. Members of “family” include spouses, domestic partners, and both different-sex and same-sex significant others. This may include a person(s) not legally related to the individual. Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley adopts the following definition of “family” for purposes of hospital-wide visitation policy: “Family” means any person(s) who plays a significant role in an individual’s life. The individual may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decision-maker or legally authorized representative. The hospital allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient’s choice (family member, friend, or another individual for emotional support during the course of stay) unless the individual’s presence infringes on others’ rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated.
